Kula Lodge accomodations
 

Has anyone stayed at the Kula Lodge in Kula (and not just eaten there)? We have a one-night reservation and would appreciate feedback.

Anyone out there who has ever stayed at Kula Lodge?

How about anyone who has stayed in Kula at a lodging good for a family of four (lots of them have a maximum occupancy of two)? Any recommendations?

Yes, DS & myself stayed there last year & it was very nice! Highly recommended!

Thanks for responding, southernbelle. Glad to know you thought it was very nice and highly recommend it. I was a little concerned because of reviews at tripadvisor. Was it cold? Some of the reviews say there was no heat in the room (other than some kind of stove) and it was freezing at night. Which room did you stay in? We will be at a Vista Chalet.

Oops! Another brain farct! I'm terribly sorry - I was thinking of Kilauea Lodge on the Big Island, NOT Kula Lodge. My mistake.

Aloha! Yes, we have stayed at Kula Lodge several times. Now this has been several years ago and at that time we thought that it was in need of refurbishment. It was convenient at the time since we were looking to buy property in the area (which we did!) and didn't worry about where we were staying. Our neighbors in Kula rent out a room in their fantastic home (with the most breathtaking views) - here is their website: http://heavenlykula.com/02_tour/tour13.html. I am not a salesperson or any other agent - they are just lovely friends who enjoy meeting people from all over the world. They are now getting repeat business and enjoying it very much.

Thank you for replying, mauigal. That doesn't sound encouraging. How long ago did you stay at Kula Lodge and which room did you get? We are staying for only one night because we are hoping to be near the crater to wake up early. What did you mean by in need of refurbishment? Old, worn-out, etc? Would you think we'll be disappointed?

Thanks for the lodging recommendation. It looks like they take 2 people, but there are 4 of us. That's the problem with most of the lodging in Kula, I found. They limit their occupancy to 2 people. That's why we booked Kula Lodge.

We stayed at Kula Lodge about 5 years ago and I hear that it hasn't changed much. It's really not that bad particularly since you are only staying one night. Our major complaint was that they didn't have decent reading lights next to the bed, otherwise it was fine. We have been to Kula Lodge for many meals and always remark on how wonderful the place could be with the right management. Don't worry at all - you'll be fine!
