Kona Village Resort Update.
 

The litigation surrounding Kona Village has been settled. The new owner of the lease is KWKona which is a subset of Kennedy and Wilson. The Trust and KWK have announced an extension to the lease. KWKona intends to reopen the resort in 2019. It has already begun to clean the property, which after five years was quite dangerous. In six months, construction is schedule to begin.

Philosophically, the new owner will continue the policy of laidback luxury, though one suspects the hales will be brought into the 21st century with AC and WIFI. No other information is available at this time. Obviously, this is an important first step.

I visited Kona Village several times in the 1980's. Loved it. Hopefully it will rise like a phoenix.
