we stayed there for our honeymoon, loved it 100%. we just got their newsletter and they've made some nice upgrades to amenities and services which should only improve things.
do a text search and you will find some of the other posts that i've responded to on this resort.
i would go back in a minute and recommend it to everyone.

I have stayed at Kona Village twice and loved it. Actually was married there on the lagoon. My husband and I prefer the lagoon Hales. I was concerned as I heard that they had a big cockroach problem recently. We want to book again but I am not fond of roaches in my room. I know it is the tropics but still. Have you heard anything about htis?

Aloha Linda,
Isn't Kona Village delightful? Our family can't wait to go back this year. We usually stay in the Lava Tahitians, palau or other oceanside as we like the ocean breezes and the quiet on that side. We also like to be near the black sand beach in front of the palaus for easy snorkeling access. We have never seen a cockroach in those hales. One year we stayed in a pond hale (everyone wanted to fish from the lanai!) and did find one near my suitcase. Friends stayed in a royal sand hawaiian and did have several. I don't know if the breeze has anything to do with it or not but it seems the only constant. As you said, it is the tropics and it is such a beautiful, romantic place. Maybe try a hale on the other side this time.
Have you had the opportunity to hear John Keawe play on Mondays? If not, try to work it into your schedule. He is wonderful and his "Kona Sunset" is absolutely lovely.
Aloha!

We did hear John play and he is great. My husband plays the guitar and really appreciated his music. We stayed in the same hale for two years as we loved it. I only saw one roach but heard thru postings that there was a problem. We are afraid to try another hale as PM2 is where we stayed on our honeymoon and it was so romantic.
