Kona, Hawaii or Ft. Laurderdale?

I have a choice of going to Kona, Hawaii for a week or Ft. Lauderdale. The problem is that we will go no other place during this week. Consequently, should I choose Kona or Ft.Lauderdale for a week's visit? Thanks

kona, kona, kona!more expensive than florida but alot more exciting.luaus and great looking hawaiian men.also a real live volcano you don't find in florida.you can do it in a week especially if you stay on one island ,but if you do decide to visit another maui is the closest.you can go for just the day. From some one who lived there and visits frequently. lym s

Has to be Kona. There is plenty to do in a week!! Lived in Lauderdale, born in the Bahamas, but there is NOTHING like Hawaii!!

Hawaii! Never been there but I wouldn't do a week in Ft. Lauderdale. I don't think you can compare the two. Ft. Lauderdale has become more of a suburban area than a vacation spot.

This is a joke, right?
You're kidding?

Comparing Kona and Ft. Lauderdale is like comparing French Silk pie to unflavored rice cakes.
There's so much to enjoy about the Big Island. If you haven't been there, this should be your choice without hesitation (unless there are circumstances you're not telling us about...like infants in tow, you live in Germany, and hate the water).

WHEN you go to Kona, see if you can take a side trip to the other side of the island. Hilo is charming, too!
