Kona

I've been going to Maui every Thanksgiving for the past 8 years, this year I've decided to spend the holiday on the Big Island. We are staying at the Mauna Lani Point condos. What are some of the better restaurants in the area and how far is the town from these condos. Thanks

Aloha alan, There are some fine restaurants. Mauna Lani is about 30-45 minutes from Kona depending on time of day. The Canoe House at the Hotel ML is very good. Cafe Pesta about 10 minutes north of the Mauna Lani complex is very good and casual. Just south of the resort is Waikaloa(10 Minutes) and there is a Roy's, the Big Island Steak House is known for their ribs, A good italian restaurant at the Hilton.
In Kona, there is a wonderrful french restaurant- La Borgoyne. We've tried Merriman's twice and weree not impressed. It gets high ratings.
You'll lkove Maunaa Lani.
Bart
In just one word: ROY'S!

Yes, ROY'S at Waikoloa!!! It is one of my favorites in Hawaii, and my favorite Roy's among all those on the different islands. Merriman's is good, but our portions were tiny, and I think it's a bit overrated. I've heard that Edelweiss is good if you like heavier, more German cuisine. Have a great trip!
