Knoxville and UT game - any good restaurants nearby?

We're driving to Knoxville this evening and staying at the Hilton downtown. Tomorrow we're going to walk from the Hilton to the Tennessee stadium (Neyland Stadium).

Any good restaurants near the Hilton where we could walk to dinner tonight?

Also, we'd like to stop (somewhere between the stadium and Hilton) and have dinner on Saturday somewhere on our walk back to the hotel after the game.

We're not really wanting something too fancy. There are 5 of us (kids 22, 19 and 16).

Thanks very much!

There are several restaurants in the downtown area, but having been to a Saturday game in Knoxville recently, I would like to warn you that many places close on game day. Those that are open are generally mobbed.

Not in walking distance, but right on the Tennessee River with a great view is a well-known barbecue restaurant whose name I can't recall -- but they will know at the Hilton if you are interested. Have fun. The UT stadium is the loudest I have ever been to, and I've been to a lot of them.

Thanks, Wayne. Yeah, we've been to quite a few games at Tennessee and you're right -- it is VERY loud! But oh, so much fun! (Even when Tennessee is having a terrible season, like they are having now.)

We usually walk back to the car and end up getting stuck in bad traffic, so we thought we'd just eat dinner somewhere after the game before we walked back, but maybe those will be too crowded, also. I guess we'll just decide when we get there.

Thanks! Go, Vols!

Hi Samsaf...if you are driving up 411 give me a wave as you pass!! But, if you are going up 75 before I leave work, wave to me there as well!!

Have fun. It's been so many years since I've been to Neyland Stadium that I have no idea about the restaurants in the area.

Have you seen that awful joke going around about the lost blue tick hound? If I can find it, I will post it....our GA, SC, AL, FL and Notre Dame friends will love it! It really is kinda funny.

Hi, iceeu2. We'll be going up I-75, so I'll wave to you at work.

And, no, I haven't heard that joke, and I even asked my husband and he said hadn't heard it either, and then he said, "So, what is it?" and I said, "I don't know, I just wondered if you knew it." I think he thinks I'm bonkers.

I saw your post and thought I would suggest http://www.knoxmenus.com. It is a comprehensive restaurant guide for the Knoxville area.
