king george hotel in san francisco

I have found a room at the King George for $79US (Super Saver Days). Can someone out there give me any idea if this is a good deal for this hotel and what I should ask for when booking eg, we want a quiet room any suggestions.
The other is the Hotel Cosmo any information on this one. Thanks.

Topping... If I knew where the hotels are I would comment on the area.

Faina--King George is at Mason on Geary, my initial thought was that's too close to the Tenderloin, but from the website it looks fairly upscale. Any thoughts, to help jbtraveller?

I've stayed at the King George at least twice recently. Last year I paid $65 for a twin through hotelres.com but that was...last year. Rooms are small but very nicely decorated and comfortable. The bathroom is tiny, but has everything one needs. Just ask for a quiet room. Location is good. I flew in from Oakland airport and took BART and only had to walk a few blocks. I found the King George to be a charming boutique hotel.

Friends from Spain stayed here and thought it was nice. I did not see the rooms. It is on the "backside" of Union Square and not the most picturesque area but for that price, seems like a good deal. My sister got a good deal at Hotel Nikko which isn't too far from there. You might check it out. Sorry can't remember the rate.

The hotel is not fancy but nice & cheap. Good location to Union Square. Don't worry about the proximity to the Tenderloin as long as you don't go wandering at night in the wrong direction (which will be pretty obvious).

As mentioned above, the rooms are very small but you can't beat the price.

Geary & Mason should be a nice area, on a bus line, close to Union Square. I would stay there! Cosmo is OK, transportation-wise I think King's location is a little bit better.

I'm not sure about the hotel you mentioned but we just got back from 4 days in S.F. and got a room on Priceline at the Stanford Court for $80/night. Good luck.

Expedia has rooms for $59 in February and $69 in March at Fitzgerald's in San Francisco on Post st, 2 blocks off Union square. Can't say anything about that hotel except it's a small one, but for a budget stay it's a good location on a 24-hr bus line.
