Check out the specials at the Sofitel, they are offering 3 nights for the price of 2. I checked a 3 night stay in Aug. and the rate came out to $202 a night plus taxes.

I Checked the Sofitel in October, a lot higher, I guess it's a busy time of year in D.C.

The Dupont Hotel and the Sofitel are both way above your price range for your dates.
Besides the Rouge, one other possibility if the Tabard Inn - also in the Dupont neighborhood. The Tabard is one of those quirky places that charge the same price for the rooms no matter what day of the year it is (although each room is priced differently). The Tabard is a nice place and well under your budget. http://www.tabardinn.com/rooms click on "private bath" or "shared bath" depending on how little you want to spend - both categories are well under your budget. |
Ohhh, Frank, you got me excited for a min.:) Yeah, we are going during the nice "cool" fall weather. I will look at Tabard.
Eveyone has been so helpful! Keep em coming and have a great day. |
We stayed a few nights at The Dupont during spring break. Found it to be close to subway station and eating spots close by.
|
At the moment, Hotwire shows only 3 hotels in the entire city that are 4* and up for your dates. That leads me to believe something is going on and it's going to be an expensive time to go. Sorry.

I've stayed at both the Madera and Topaz hotels. Usually at Madera, but the last trip we stayed at Topaz because it was a little closer to one of our destinations. I have to say that for the money, the Topaz was just as nice at the Madera. Both of them are easy walking to Dupont Circle.
I'm not sure that you can really go wrong with any of the Kimpton hotels. |
Hotel Rouge has a superior location to the George. No one says you have to eat at their restaurant. Kimpton in general is a great chain, but their hotels are generally not built from scratch so you may run into the occasional issue with thin walls or poor A/C. Be sure to join their frequent stayer program. Expedia has better rates on their website (and there is only a one night cancel fee) vs Kimpton. I would quote the rates & conditions, call Kimpton and see if they will match them.
The Madera is also under $200 (barely) for a one bed room and is a bit closer to Dupont Circle, but the rooms are sufficiently smaller (350 sf) than the Rouge (450 sf). October in general is busy in DC. When all the players are back in town. Those really are good rates on Expedia for the Rouge. |
Thank you!!!
