Kimberley Hotel, Manhattan, NY

Does anybody know of this hotel at 145 E 50th?
Is is quite a central location for most 'touristy' things? English family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids 10&5) need advice on suite/boutique hotels.Coming in August.
Many thanks

Look on www.quikbook.com. I have stayed at the Kimberly once; if I recall it was near 2nd ave and a bit of a walk to, say Times Square. Quikbook has lots of hotels at good rates and I have used them many times for business & pleasure. Some people like Priceline but I prefer to select my hotel and be able to cancel if I need to without penalty. NYC rooms tend to be on the small side.

Never heard of this hotel but 145 east would be between Lexington & 3rd Ave.-not a bad location. Like London, there is no ONE location that's central for most touristy things. You might like the location of the Mansfield better since it's just off 5th Ave. (Fifth Ave is the delineation between east and west on the "grid" system of streets, so 12 west is just west of 5th-12 east would be just east). Some people with kids like the Doubletree Suites hotel in the Times Square area but say the suites are small although you do get 2 separate rooms. Also look into the Gorham which has big rooms with kitchenettes (& I think some suites). You might try a text search here for NY hotels AND suites. Many people like the website quikbooks.com for prices. Good luck & have a great trip.

mclaurie...I have looked into the Gorham and that seems to be what we are looking for too. Now I have to make a choice ! Thanks for all your help everyone!

On the recommendation of people here, and others, three of us are staying at the Kimberley over Memorial Day weekend; I will post a "review" when we return--but perhaps you can't wait that long.
