"Kid" things to do in Stanwood area

We are visiting our granddaughter for a few days this week. They have lived in Stanwood for just under a year.

We have been to Seattle twice and are familiar with it but don't expect to spend time there with her.

She is almost 8.Like typical things for that age. A great playground, maybe swim ? [too cold, I'm guessing], park/gardens, kids museum, animals, arts and crafts would all work.

I know Stanwood is a small town, was thinking maybe things in Everett or Bellingham? We will have a car.

Thanks!

In Everett there is a children's museum. Everett also has a minor league baseball team that is a lot of fun for kids. We used to take our kids and they loved it. McCollum Park has a pool and is a great place for kids. Again a place our enjoyed at that age. It is just off I5 at the 128th place exit, about 2-3 blocks east. Very easy to get to.

In Snohomish head to Harvey Field in downtown and watch the skydivers. You can sit right next to where they land. Weekends especially there are many skydivers in the air and it is pretty cool!

Go for a bike ride along the Centennial Trail. It goes from Snohomish to Arlington and is wonderful.

Take a look at Whatcom Falls in Bellingham. There are a few places you can get in the water safely if it is a warm day. Otherwise you can hike around and just check out the various falls and such.

That should get you started:)

Thought of another right in Stanwood. Kayak Point Park. It was another place our kids enjoyed on field trips.

Glad to help:) Weather is nice this week so you should be able to do lots of outdoor things.

Hey Deb -

My parents live in Stanwood and we were there last week (including Kayak Point, which was a favorite when I was a kid and in high school :) ). You might also enjoy a trip out to Camano Island. Cama Beach State Park is nice and has a fun breakfast/lunch spot overlooking the water. You can walk down to the beach and visit an outpost of the Center for Wooden Boats.

There's also a zipline on the Island if you're up for it. Enjoy!

Did Camano Island today. Walked the beach, collected shells, skipped rocks and spent some time at a great playground on 531, just before the bridge, in Stanwood -- I think .
