Kid-Friendly restaurant between Tampa and Bradenton

Does anyone know of one? We're staying in Bradenton and want to meet my aunt who lives in Tampa. Any suggestions?

Cindyloo, if you check a map you'll see that there are two ways to commute between the two cities. If you opt to drive from Bradenton north through St. Petersburg on I-275, then you can dine at at one of many spots in St. Petersburg. If you drive along the east coast of the Tampa Bay on I-75 or Hwy. 41, you'll be out of luck unless you're looking forward to fastfood, there's a million of those.

There is an outdoor burger spot called the Chattaway that would be good, very Florida. It is just north of downtown. Coney Island Hot Dog is in St. Pete on 9th Street just off the exit from I-275. There is a childrens museum at Sunken Gardens and a Carrabas across the street. And there are likely a few places to eat at the St. Petersburg Pier. And finally, Tangelos in downtown SP has outdoor seating, burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries.

Roaring 20's Pizza and Pipes is located in Ellenton where the Outlet Mall is located..might be a good place for the kids.since you didn't say where you were staying and aunt lived excately in Tampa...or else Brandon area might be good unless your aunt is taking the Sunshine Skyway bridge and you want to meet in St Pete....other Ellenton places would be Crab ShackII,Leverock's,etc....or a ton of Brandon places...Ruskin,SunCity----

Anna Maria Oyster Bar in Ellenton is really good and kid-friendly too.

Roaring 20's is nice if you like organ music but if you'd like to talk then it could get difficult as the organ gets pretty loud.

Tandoori Girl!!

What is that Coney Island Hot dog place like in St Pete? Have you been there? Do they serve a meat sauce on the dogs and are they regular dogs or special sizes?

LN, Coney Island is an institution, if not for the quality of the dog then for the atmosphere and tradition since the 1940s. The buns are like steamed wonderbread. The chili is more like sauce. The dogs are not the quality of Nathan's or Sabrett's or any of those great ones. But the place is like stepping into the past. They serve hot dogs their way, so don't ask for it different. Inside it looks all shiney and stainless steel just like a diner. The cast of characters who work there are the same people who've worked there for the past 50 years. Kids love the place with its counter and stools, booths along the wall. And the prices are perfect for families, easy on the budget. The milkshakes are the one really high point, made right there with ice cream, milk, one of those blender type machines that whip it up. No fries, just chips. They have burgers too. This is sort of like what fast food was before macdonald's came along. You need to make a trip. Take $10 and feed the family

Sounds great TG!! Is there some finely ground meat in that sauce by chance? We used to get Coney Islands or Texas Weiners years ago in PA and it was like you said shiny diner where they made things their own way. A dog had a slightly spicy meat sauce, mustand, and onions I believe, and mouth-watering good!!

If they're similar I'll be coming up!
