Kiawah Island in mid-October

We are thinking of planning a family get-together on Kiawah Island. What's your opinion of the weather in mid-October? Is it still warm enough to enjoy the island's amenities? We range in age from 7-75, and there are eleven of us. Should we consider the Sanctuary, or rent a villa? Would love to hear from some of you who have done this!We are thinking of a long weekend.

We go to the NC islands every October. The tourist hordes are gone but the water & weather are just about perfect. There is no better time to go. Of course, everytime I have been eveacuated for a hurricane (3 X) has also been in October. But you need to go anyway. Unless you have golfers, Kiawah may not be your best choice, either.

We went to Kiawah and stayed at the Sanctuary a year ago in January for three nights. It is a beautiful hotel and has great rooms - it is also quite pricey. They have spa services, an indoor pool and a nice fitness center. Our only complaint was that my husband and I both booked spa services at the same time; there are lovely lounges to enjoy for the day if you book a service but they are not co-ed, so we couldn't spend any of that time together. It is a better place for relaxing than lots of activities unless you do the golf thing. Charleston is close enough for diversion.

October in my opinion, is the best time to visit Kiawah. The temps range from mid 70's to mid 80's, and the ocean temp is perfect! As for lodging, I highly recommend renting a villa. You will have a great time. Please feel free to e-mail me for more information.
