Kiahuna plantation construction

Hi,
We are going to Kauai in April. We book Kiahuna Plantation but found out there is constuction next and that is why we got a great rate. Anyone seen/heard how annoying that is? Also, what about Plantation Hale Best Western. Has great rates for condo....why?
Thanks.
Shari

We stayed there a couple of years ago and it was great. The grounds are large, where is the construction going on? All the villas face the ocean, and the grounds are lovely. I think you would still have a great time. Try the Hyant for lunch, get a table by the pond, and I bet you a long neck goose will come by and almost have a part of your salad. Buck

We stayed at Plantation Hale in August and got a very good rate. The building is a little older than some others, but the rooms were extremely spacious and clean. It sets back from the beach a little, but the lot in front of it is empty. There's a sidewalk through the lot to get to the beach.

Also close to Plantation Hale is the "beachboy". (I can't remember the entire name.) This is a timeshare/condo place which has just been renovated. Those units are beautiful. If you can find a comparable rate there, I'd choose that one...just beware of the timeshare salesman. :)

we stayed at Kiahuna last march-it was very nice. I loved the beautiful gardens and grounds and it was quieter. The book "The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook" says this about the construction: "the marriott beach club, to the north of Kiahuna is under going reconstruction that could go into 2004. Kiahuna buildings 40-42 are horrible located behind the noise of the construction zone. Avoid these rooms! Also poorly located are buildings 9, 10, 11 and 15." If you want an aerial view of Kiahuna go to wizardpub.com. They have the buildings numbered on it. Choose a building far from the construction and you should be okay. Just make sure your rooms are guaranteed to be where you request.
I'm not much of a fan of the Plantation Hale. In a noisy congested area, and quite a walk from the beach. Not in the same class as Kiahuna.

Have fun!

I was there over the christmas vacation, the construction noise is unbearable! You will be very unhappy. Cancel your reservation, and call one of the other condo rental companies. There are many: destination resorts, suite paradise, grantham. A resort area near the Kiahuna is called the Poipu Kai Resort, with many condo complexes. One that we like is called Manualoha. Try to get a condo in building #1. Another alternative is Poipu Sands, building #5. Both are the closest to Poipu Beach and Shipwreck Beach, respectively. Good luck!
