Keystone, CO & area - inside activities?

We will be in Keystone, CO later this week - weather forecast has quite a bit of rain in it. Hoping this changes and we can be outside, but if not, looking for family-friendly, inside things to do. Several kids in our group, ages 4 to 9. Surrounding areas are fine too - Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, anything within an hour's drive. Has anyone been to the gold mine tour in Breckenridge? Thanks for suggestions!

Leadville: 45 minutes away, terrific scenery
National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum and lots more http://www.colorado.com/events/eight-leadville-museums

There are many mine tours in the area. The one on the Georgetown loop railroad is fairly brief and fun for kids:

Breck has a nice community center with a pool and waterslide (indoor) and a climbing wall, I think.

Years ago we did a mine tour near breck (country boy mine, I think). Reasonably interesting.

You right about the week not looking good. We are being especially hard hit by the monsoons weather pattern this year. But it does not rain all day and tends to come in late afternoon. The mornings and early PM should be fine. The area is not well suited to indoor activities.

The Georgetown loop railroad mine tour is terrific but miserable to get to if it is raining. You have take the train with mostly open cars. Cowboy mine in Breck is interesting. The indoor pool is very nice.

Weather forecasts may show rain everyday, but that usually means a rain shower in the afternoon. Rarely do you get a full day of rain. Hopefully, it won't interfere with your sightseeing.

Please let us know how it goes.

Haven't explored it, but I think Breck has an ice rink also.

Somewhat outdoors, but there is a good outlet mall at Dillon.

Thank you so much for the great suggestions and reassurance on the weather. Hopefully we can be out and about in the mornings and plan on being more inside or kids resting in the afternoon. And maybe we'll even discover a few things we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Happy travels!

So Colorado weather proves to be unpredictable, as usual.

Here in Aspen today, it started raining around 2pm, and is still raining now, at 9:00pm.

A nice steady rain, which we always welcome. For us, it isn't too bad, since we've been here several times. But I feel bad for the campers, rafters, and other tourists.

Uh oh. It's still raining. No end in sight.

Not really a problem for us, since DH is at a conference inside, anyway. And I enjoy the condo fireplace, and watching the weather outside.

I am eating my words. It is still pouring rain in Aspen.

This is very unusual for July in CO. I think Denver was only 60 degrees today, with 2.25" of rain. Very odd weather.

Southerngirl, are you in Keystone now? How's it going there?
