keystone advice again please
Well we have finally decided to ski keystone next week. Looking for dining recommendations for the 5 of us including 3 teenagers. Also activities you would recommend. Anyone done the sleigh ride dinner? THanks all.
|
There are 2 restaurants at the top of Keystone that you ride the gondolas up to in the evening...they give you blankets for the ride up & down, it's quite an adventure.
I have eaten at one of the restaurants - Alpenglow Stube - which is a somewhat elegant, fixed-price restaurant. I enjoyed it very much, not sure if you want to go that route. BUT, there is also a family-friendly fondue restaurant up there that might be more up your alley; seemed like that would be fun. |
Thanks KMK. Was the Alpenglow Stube pricey and would they have kid friendly food? It sounds wonderful and we really like the extraordinary..... thanks

Chime in here the Alpenglow is pricey I would not take kids. The fondue however is very fun! Never done the sleighride but want to.
Keystone has a tubing hill and the largest outdoor maintained ice skating rink in the US. |
Hmm, I don't know about kid-friendly food specifically at Alpenglow Stube...there's more than one choice for appetizers/salads/entrees/desserts, but it's all pretty upscale. If you have sophisticated, adventurous teenagers it could work - if they're fussy burger-eaters, maybe wouldn't be worth it. I think it is in the neighborhood of $90 per person, so it's definitely a treat if you want to splurge and the kids are the type who would appreciate it.
That's why I also suggested the fondue place; they do advertise as being kid-friendly, and they won't hurt your wallet so bad. I've only been to fondue restaurants a few times, but I think they are fun. Didn't get a chance to try this one, but I did want to! And, you still get the whole gondola trek as well!!! Go to keystone.snow.com & click on village life/dining. Alpenglow Stube is under fine dining, Der Fondue Chessel is under unique. There are sample menus/prices and numbers to call for information or reservations. Have fun! |
Took the family to Der Fondue Chessel a few years ago. My teenagers loved it. In addition to cheese and chocolate fondue, you grill your meat choice on a racallete grill on the table. They have the standard beef, chicken, shrimp choices as well as german sausages. Be prepared to be at 11,000 ft. Just the walk to the restroom and back is tiring. Definitely a memorable evening.
