Islamorada: Cheeca Lodge or the Moorings.

Key West: Do a search in this forum and get some suggestions.

It will be hard to find something for 125 a night in Key West during the month of March. You will be competing against Spring Break Kids. Even off season 125 is low.

Actually, Priceline is a great place to get resorts in Key West. I am staying for $70/night through priceline.

Check out www.biddingfortravel.com and it will give you a list of hotels/resorts that priceline has historically has given bidders. (Love this site, has saved me much $$!) And it will give a bid history so you can see how other bidders made out.

Have a great time in the Keys!

where did you get 70 a night and what hotel is it? I am finding most places under 100 or 150 are roach motels and/or not near the main section of town.

SJB: As Sal pointed out, go to www.biddingfortravel.com . It's a BB set up to get the most out of Priceline. You gotta read the instructions carefully, though.

It's the Sheraton Suites... a little bit away from the action, but I am on a budget and dont mind being away from downtown.

xxx Feb 16th, 2002 05:03 AM

Yes, Sheraton has good rates but it is too far away from everything. Thanks for the help. I was hoping you found that rate with a place closer to the activities.

The Sheraton Suites are less than two miles to all the "activities," a taxicab ride is about $5! It's not worth $5 to save more than $50 per night? They also offer a free shuttle.

All that I have read and seen, people tend to be more centered toward the historic area of the island. I called about taxis and it is more than 5 dollars and the shuttle has limited hours. To each his own but if I am on vacation I would rather spend my time enjoying it and not waiting on taxis and shuttles and stay where the "true" flavour of the island is.

cbf Feb 18th, 2002 06:32 AM

Unfortunately, the "true flavour of the island" disappeared about 20 years ago.
Elaine Feb 18th, 2002 11:22 AM

The true flavor sure has disappeared! I've lived in Key West for 23 years and plan to leave the day my son finishes high school! The developers and tourists have ruined what used to be beautiful!
