Key West with a beach

We are looking for a beach get-a-way this summer. We have been to Key West two times and enjoy it very much and would like to find a similar destination with the 'Key West feel' and a beach. Looking for tropical attitude, good dining, some sights, possible historic architecture, snorkeling and lots of lounging by the pool or on the beach. We always stay at the Marquesa and love the accomoditions and the ability to be in the middle of the action (just a couple blocks from Duval) or totaly isolated by the Marquesa pools in just a matter of minutes. Would also like to find a place where a car is not necessary. Does such a place exist? Thanks

Have you considered Provincetown? Not tropical but IMHO is very similar to Key West.

I agree that the Caribbean would be a good choice. The Bahamas.

In Florida, you might think about St. Augustine. It has an old-world feel with lots of history, some really nice walking through the historic district where you can see re-enactments. Visit the old fort. Certainly not the Caribbean or Key West, not nearly as many shops or bars but lots of great restaurants. The city is on the mainland, the beach is across the bridge in Anastasia or St. Augustine Beach. You'd need to rent a car to make the trip into the city, then park and walk but there is plenty of parking, cheap. Alas, not much to see snorkeling on the Atlantic in St. Augustine beach, just little minows.
