Key West Suggestions
Any suggestions for favorite restaurants or things to do. We're not party animals, just a middle aged couple looking for suggestions for nice restaurants, tours, shopping (not much), and excursions. We won't likely have a car. We'll be staying in Old Town.

We really enjoyed the tours of the Hemingway House and the Truman winter White House. Loved riding bikes around. Nice place to stop for a rest and a drink - the bar at Southernmost. Music everywhere - check for music at Mallory Square, early evenings. Had a lovely dinner outside at Blue Heaven. Key Lime everything (especially popsicles with chocolate) at Kermit’s!

I'll add the Audubon House to the list above. The butterfly enclosure was a nice place to spend an hour on a dreary day.

I’ll second the Hemingway tour. Our all time favorite restaurant, not fancy, but great atmosphere and terrific food, is Blue Heaven. Thankfully it survived the hurricane! Louie’s Backyard is far more upscale, with a great location on the water, but you can’t beat Blue Heaven for Old Key West ambience and good food in a warm casual atmosphere.

The Conch train takes you around both old town and out to the beach area... it's a fun little ride with some history and sights along the way...
Also consider a Sunset Sail on a Catamaran from the Bight area... finally, there's always the Sunset celebration at Mallory Square. .. |

Oh, I want to add - for a really beautiful and delicious dinner, Latitudes on Sunset Key is wonderful. You have to take their ferry to get there, and I think need a hotel or dinner reservation to do so. Sit on the patio outside at sunset. And the food is excellent too.

Thanks for all the great ideas, I'm writing them all down.
