Key West restaurants..first timer
 

Heading to Key West in April with a group of 6 all in our late twentys. Looking to book one "nice" dinner. Hopefully somewhere that will allow us to enjoy the weather/ ocean view. Any suggestions?

I did read some of the other posts, but thought someone might have a suggestion for something near the water with a view.

We like Louie's Backyard. good ocean view from the place and terrace. Food is good although on the pricier side.

Thanks notbob...do you know if you are able to dine out on the deck or is that for cocktails only?

Dining is available on the deck as well. Basically it is an old house that has been converted to a restaurant. dining in a couple of spots inside. Lots of large windows out to the ocean. Then a large deck area in what was once the backyard, steps down toward the ocean dining table there. At the very edge of the deck over the ocean is a bar on the side.

A & B is near the Marina & upstairs is for fine dining. You can sit out on the deck/patio as well.

I loved Mangia Mangia at 900 Southard. A little off the main streets, with wonderful pasta and seafood dishes. VEry cozy little restaurant. Felt more like a "locals" place. The entrees are really large, so you can probably split one. Hope you have a great time!

Whoops! Sorry goodoggy! I didn't see the ocean view requirement... Mangia Mangia doesn't offer a view, but there's a nice outdoor patio area which I think would be nice.

Hot Tin Roof has a great view over Mallory Square, and the food was pretty good as well.

A restaurant I would highly recommedn for a nice dinner would be Seven Fish. It was awarded the highest Zagat rating and was fabulous. Not all that over-priced either. http://www.7fish.com/ I would suggest calling ahead for a reservation as it is very small. We had the concierge at the hotel book it for us. I would definitely go back again.

Thanks for all the great restaurant tips/links! I think the 3 guys are trying to plan a morning (1/2 day) charter fishing trip...any suggestions on a good one?

You might also look at the Rooftop Cafe, 2nd floor, Front Street. They have a veranda which faces the docks, but you cannot quite see the water. http://www.rooftopcafekeywest.com/

If there are no cruise ships in one night, go to the Bistro 245 at the Westin. Outdoor seating overlooking the harbo and Sunset Key.

Definitley second Blue Heaven and 7 Fish. And at Blue Heaven you get a tire swing instead of the view.

We also like Louie's, the food was great and the service very nice and friendly, although I have to say there were a couple snotty people there. Our server could not have been nicer, though, to make us feel welcome and our lunch and drinks were great. The view is nice, although not overwhelming (no big waves or anything), but very relaxing.

Louis' Backyard now has a tapas bar on or overlooking the deck. It sounds very good and I may take a look next month.

Just note that you'll pay for that ocean view.

Personally I'd get fish sandwiches from BOs Fishwagon and head to the beach and picnic.

That said, I like Louies Backyard.

I like B.O.'s for the fish&chips and a Corona, sitting at the rail over-looking Caroline Street, but just a head's up - they don't take credit cards.
