Key West Restaurants
We will be staying in Key West over the Thanksgiving Holidays. Does anybody have any suggestions for good restaurants?
|
There are so many it's practically impossible to give advice! For something funky and filled with local color: Blue Heaven - a former bordello and site of cockfights that Hemingway frequented. They've still got chickens walking around and "dining" is outside on picnic benches. For a cholesterol-laden breakfast, Pepe's. For fine dining: Cafe des Artistes, Cafe Marquesa, Michael's and Louie's Backyard (save $ here by going at lunch). The previous 4 are expensive. The Half Shell Raw Bar has paper plates and plastic cutlery and VERY fresh fish. It's at the marina. We've had wonderful breakfasts and lunches at the outside restaurant of the Pier House, though our evening meal in their "good restaurant" wasn't particularly good. Alice's is wonderful, too!! I'm sure I'll think of lots more...

Mangia, Mangia for good pasta (lots of choices). Cafe Des Artists for your spendy night out.

Just got back yesterday from Key West. Pepe's is great--went for both lunch and dinner, and every Thursday night they serve Thanksgiving dinner! Blue Heaven is a must for breakfast--luckily no roosters were running around when I was there.

Maggie,

Key West has so many wonderful resturants, Crabby Dicks is one of my favorites for both lunch and dinner, we always try and get a table on their upstairs balcony overlooking Duval street. Another good spot is Kelly's, which is actress Kelly McGillis resturant, if I remember right it's on Whitehead St. Another is Lobster Mobster, (Duval St.) good food, reasonably priced and large portions. The Half Shell Bar is good, but be prepared for a long wait especially during their busy season. Have fun!
I'd avoid Crabby Dicks--had a bad experience there, and have heard many other horror stories.

Also, it's Mobster Lobster.
|
crabby dicks was the best restraunt we ate at.
|
Kelly's? Unless there's been a turnaround, I'd avoid eating there. First time I ate there, I thought they must be having a bad night. The second time was just as bad.

Nice place for drinks, though.

Hey! Wake up! The original post is over 2 years old!!!

Hello, we are traveling to KW in a few days, does anyone have any advice on the restaurants the locals go to?
|
There isn't a local secret restaurant. Stay away from the chains. Try El Siboney for authentic Cuban.
|
Try Pepes. It is near the Schooner Wharf Bar . Also near Pepes is B.O.'s Fish Wagon. It's not much to look at but the food is good and fresh and reasonably priced.
