Key West Resorts
I'm looking for a resort in Key West that has an Old Town location and a budget concious price tag. Does anyone have suggestions? Or can anyone comment on the Hyatt Resort & Marina?

Check out www.oldtownresorts.com. The have 4 resorts, nice, moderately priced, on Duval, within walking distance to Mallory Square.

Hi Sarah

Not sure if you've done this already but if you haven't, do a search on this board using the box at the top. Type in Key West. There is a ton of info on hotels & restuarants of Key West (alot of it recent).

The Hyatt is not for the budget minded.

As the above poster notes, the Hyatt is great but definitely not a budget hotel. If by "resort" you mean a big hotel with grounds, you might check into the Casa Marina and/or the Reach. Both are on the Atlantic side of Key West but apparently they've been having good rates recently. Of the 4 Old Town Resorts, the Southernmost Hotel has the least expensive rates. If you haven't already checked keywest.com you might look there...there are lots of lodging options under "accommodations."

Check out www.grandeyresort.com, we're going in a few days but we got a rate of $89 per night!

Grand Key seems to get really poor reviews due to its location and service levels. I think they even went through a change of hands because things are so bad. It is a Double Tree and still seems to be plagued by the same problems. The location is the worst part for what reviews comment on.

You get what you pay for in Key West. Dont go to cheaply.

When we stayed at the Hyatt, it ended up being around $300/nite. It is in a great location and it is a wonderful property. The pool area doesn't get much sun, though!
