Key West Question
I have never been to Key West before. Is the water warm enough to swim in during the months of Jan and Feb? How about Mar and Apr? I am considering driving there to save a ton of $ for our winter vacation.

Depends on where you are from. If you are from the North, yes you can swim in Jan or Feb. Definitely March and April. Don't know where you are driving from but DO NOT take I95 through Miami. Take the turnpike.

I went down in Jan last year (from Penn) and I found it too cold to swim.

Steve,
Key West is an extremely expensive destination.
If you want beautiful blue warm water, and inexpensive flights and lodging, check out Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
(For me, the water was too cool Key West in April, but I like my water 80+ :)

Me again....

I live in Warwick, NY. This is about 20 minutes from where NY, NJ, and PA meet. In the summer I heat my pool to 75 degrees and feel comfortable.

I will not fly again because I survived the WTC. I was in my office at 2WTC 69floor when the plane hit the other building. I got out.

Given all of this when is Key West OK for me to swim in the water?

Also, I own a 2002 Jeep Liberty and a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. Is there any off road opportunity there? Or should I drive my Pontiac and save half of the gasoline bill?

I wud drive the Jeep. You never know what kind of weather you will run into between NY and FL that time of year.IMHO
BB

Steve, take the jeep. My suggestion would be to take a couple of days to make the drive down. Hang out at one of the Carolina or Georgia beaches for a day. If you like 75 degree water temp then you will be fine in March. I think you will have a great time.
|
Punta Cana inexpensive? Compared to driving to KW? No way. Punta Cana's resorts are almost all inclusive and airfare is high there.

Steve-Take the jeep. March and April can bring freezing rain/sleet/snow. In March and April it will be warm enough to swim down in the Keys.
