Key West-Ocean Key or Casa Marina ?

We are going to Key West the 1st week of Dec. We have never been there before. I have a oceanview jr. suite reserved at the Ocean Key. How are the grounds at this hotel. The Wyndham Casa Marina is having a buy 1 nt. get 1 free which makes it very tempting, but if money is no object, which would be the better place to stay. Thanks

If money is no object,.....than it is no contest, Ocean Key Resort.

I agree with Suzie. Though there are no grounds, and I do mean NO grounds at the Ocean Key Resort, the hotel itself is worlds better than the Casa Marina and the location is far superior, too. You won't be finding any buy one, get one free deals at the Ocean Key because it's very, very popular. It's owned by Noble House, the same group that owns Little Palm Island, the $1000 a day place on Little Torch Key.

Thanks for the replys. What appealed to me about the Casa Marina was that the grounds did look very nice, but I think I will trust the judgement of most of you on this board that say that location is more important. We also enjoy a nice pool area, and this one looks nice overlooking the water.

Ocean Key. The Noble house is having a few problems and I can't believe Little Palm is still associated with them.

Not only is the location better, I understand the rooms are very nice and romantic. I am envious.

The Ocean Key has a special which includes dinner each night at their restaurant "The Hot Tin Roof" Is the food good here, or would it be better to experience different restaurants? (we are going for 3 nights). Also, the Hyatt was sold out, but now has some rooms. Is the Ocean Key better than the Hyatt? Thanks.

The oceanview suites at the Ocean Key are much better than rooms at the Hyatt. However, I'd advise you NOT to eat at the restaurant at the Ocean Key. I've eaten there twice and think the food is mediocre at best. There are LOTS of really great restaurants in Key West.

Thanks Susan. I definetly won't get the meal plan, and I'll do a search for good restaurants. I'm sure there's lots of info. on past threads.
