key west, la te da hotel
Hello,
Please send any information you can on the La Te Da Hotel, Key West. Also, any dining / nightlife suggestions, too. My husband I and are vacationing there Feb. 2004. Thank you! |
La Te Da is a terrific hotel on Duval - with Alice's restaurant, a good one. Others: Seven Fish, Cafe Marquesa, Pisces and Antonia. For lunch, Mangoes on Duval, and of course Blue Heaven at Thomas and Petoria. Avoid Louie's Back Porch like the plague. Try The Iguana for lunch - a dive but excellent - on Greene, just off Duval. Check out the hot suaces on Greene. There you have it, the best in KW.

Thanks very much!

... and janie, check the Casa Marina Hotel sunset cruise - arrange it at their beach shop. Watching sunsets is the big deal.
... spend the morning at the Hemingway house - very nifty. ... walk the length of Duval on a weekend night and catch the fun. Take a bike buggy (it's a dollar a minute and worth it). ... a convertible is just the trick in KW is nice weather - February will be nice!! Drive around and see the houses. ... check out Last Flight Out at 503 Green. Glass Reunion at 825 Duval. El Siboney for Cuban food - on Catherine Street. ... for breakfast, many like Banana Cafe on Duval. Or Pepe's on Caroline and Camille's on Simonton. And while on Duval, at the east end, see the chicken store on Duval, perhaps the 1200-1300 block, north side. Go in and visit the chickens!!! Great fun. ... have fun in KW!! |
I (and others) answered this question the first time you asked it. Any particular reason you're asking again? For additional information about hotels and restaurants in Key West do a search of this board. You'll find LOTS of information.

... possibly janie was searching for a more discriminating response. What I've provided is just two weeks old, and obviates the need for burdensome, exhaustive research, the results of which would require more work in detecting the scarce niblets. My response provides the cream that rises to the top. It was indeed fortunate I happened to see janie's posting. I'm really trying to be humble, lol.

Yes, I had asked that question a few weeks ago, but had some problems with my PC so I had to re-register on fodors.com. Sorry to sound repetative.
You have been extremely helpful pchsmiles! |
... at La Te Da, don't miss the cross-dressing show each night! Or the food on the porch - Alice will come out and see you.
... Be sure to every place before you go. ... if travelling via plane thru Miami or Tampa, stay current on schedules - the airlines are making changes. One change was conveyed to us at 2 a.m. before our 7 a.m. departure. Thanks, American. |
... whoops - that's be sure to reserve at all restaurants. Some are very small - Pisces and Seven Fish.

does anyone know what type of place
la te da is ie mixed crowd etc? |
... if you mean is La Te Da a predominantly gay hotel, the answer is no. It's very popular with many types, but especially so with those who want to be on the edge of the KW excitement without being in the midst of it. It's better for adults, it's not really geared to kids. The Casa Marina or Reach would be better for kids.
|
... anyone looking for a resort type hotel, Casa Marina is the best one on KW. A very friendly place with great pools, nice beach, lots of water sports, a dive shop, scuba, snorkle, sailing, etc. A great place to turn the kids loose to have fun on their own. Wonderful staff!!

hi pchsmiles thanks for all your
info could you email me directly so i can ask you a few more questions without making this thread any longer. |
That's really the extent of my info. - I do hope it aids you in planning for KW. It's a great place - we were there most recently two weeks ago, and it was hot and humid. But that will change soon. Walking Duval is a hoot! And you must go to Hemingway house and see his cats!! Green Parrot is a dive, but great for a beer. T-shirts next door. And you can se the beginning of US 1.

I was in KW a few months ago and had the most fun at La Te Da. We are straight, but felt very comfortable at this establishment. Wonderful music each night in the piano bar. The food was fantastic, and the show upstairs is not to be missed. The owner, Mark, is a fantastic host and always around. The pool looked so inviting.
And Alice's had some of the best food we ate the entire week. We stayed at the Eaton Lodge while we were there and would NOT recommend it. Just a so-so B&B, others looked much better and friendlier. |
