Key West in November?
Considering Key West in November (over Thanksgiving) and wondering if anyone could give me some "real world" thoughts about the weather. Everything I've read so far seems to indicate that Spring is the time to go....
Husband and I really need a romantic break from the kids and I want to do my best to ensure (ha ha) good weather. Unfortunately we can't swing it in spring. Any feedback would be much appreciated! |
I would argue that Thanksgiving is our favorite time to go. To cut down on airfare (costs), we usually leave Thanksgiving Day & come back on Tuesday. Our temps have always been in the 70-80 range.

I used to go in Nov but stopped. For me Key West is getting out onto and into the water for sailing, kayaking and snorkeling, but too many times the weather was so bad that no one was going out. I stopped. One other consideration is the Powerboat Races near the end of November. These can be very noisy. You should 2bl check the exact dates for them.

November in Key West is very similar to the spring months. Pleasant temps, low humidity, sunny skies. By Thanksgiving, the powerboat races have come and gone. It's a shoulder season, so lodging rates are reasonable. The summer crowd is back in school and the snowbirds have not arrived, so everything is calm and accessible. In my opinion, it's one of the best months to visit Key West.

FWIW...
Danger Chartes provides "shortie" wetsuits on their snorkel trips for free. The others, Fury, Sebago, Sunny Days, what have you, will rent them to you for $10.00 pp. Ask before youboard. Even SNUBA rents 'em. Pjk |
