Key West In June (2004)

We are planning a 6 day stay in Key West the first of June. What is the weather/climate like during this time. I am afraid from some of my research that it could be quite rainy. Is this true? Do thunderstorms last all day or do they quickly move onward?

June in Key West will be hot, humid and sticky with a chance of thunderstorms daily.

Fortunately, the thunderstorms move in and out quickly.

Michellek66:
I'm staying at Cudjoe Key which is 23 miles from Key West right now. I wish it was hot, humid, and sticky at the present. They have had an extremely WINDY winter that has not slowed down at all. The winds have been blowing about 15 to 20 miles an hour daily. It has made for cool days and nights.
But, alas, it has killed our fishing days. 5 to 7 foot seas are no fun to deal with, but a day in Key West is great.
We will be here until the first week of June, so I will let you know closer to the end of May if this weather pattern is still holding up.

I also meant to include that we have stayed here for the entire month of May for the past 3 years (which really is a 28day rental) that has fallen on us leaving the first part of June, and we have only had a few rain days. These little storms come in and go away very fast. Not to worry!

Thank you very much. I appreciate your posting. I will look forward you reply towards the end of May regarding the weather. I just don't want to be stuck in Key West with lots of rain. I can handle the humidity and heat. LOL

I will certainly post an update!

Dear Michellek66:
The weather is much improved since I first responded to your post as far as the wind is concerned. We were unable to go bluewater fishing for the first two weeks due to winds blowing 15 to 25 mph, but it is a mere 5 to 10 mph since. It has not rained but twice, and that was during the night while we were sleeping. In fact we weren't aware that it had rained until see saw the wet streets in the morning.
Hope you have a great time....and yes it is very warm, but I'm sure you will enjoy!

Thank you so much for the info. We are planning a day trip to Dry Tortugas and knowing that the winds have died down really gives us hope that the trip will take place.
