Any help on offer is appreciated.!!!!!

They have no idea when a hurricane will hit! It is "pot luck" with maybe a few day notice. They have had them the last couple of years. Sept is the busiest month for them so your odds are better.

Pier House looks nice but when I was down there several months ago, there was some big renovations going on. Anytime you asked a local what it is like, they would sort of roll their eyes and laugh. I guess Pier House is not too liked. Their are a lot of B&B's that seem great for a honeymoon. We stayed at The Conch House which was really nice but next to a busy street. The Marquesa Hotel gets a lot of nice reviews on this board for another option.

Unless you're very specific about the type (and view) of accommodations you expect, you'll probably find yourself overlooking the parking lot, because that's where most of the rooms are in the Pier House. On the bright side, I think they've got good food for breakfast and lunch. The new dinner menu looks less interesting and very pricey. As for hurricanes, September is one of the worst months, though they can pop up much earlier and much later. Since hurricanes are pretty thoroughly tracked, you should have plenty of advance knowledge. Non-residents are evacuated if a hurricane is impending. Tuesday morning traffic shouldn't be a problem. It normally takes 4 hours from the Miami airport to Key West.
