Key West: Gardens Hotel or Marquesa Hotel?

Hello. Both get high marks on Tripadvisor and both around the same price. It seems both are located just off Duval Street as well which is nice.

Has anyone stayed in both and has a preference? It is just my wife and I for a three night weekend in November and both are available.

Thanks,

Marc

Let me also add Ambrosia/Ambrosia Too to the choices!

Thanks,

Marc

Marc - we've been going to Key West for years but have never stayed at any of these places. Around 10+ years ago the Marquesa was THE place to stay in Key West, but the current darling is the Gardens. Both are lovely and both are in great locations. The Marquesa has a restaurant, but in my opinion it's not as good as many others in Key West.

Unless I'm mistaken the owner of the Gardens also own Ambrosia and Ambrosia Too. They also get excellent reviews but would be at least a tier down from the Gardens and Marquesa, and maybe slightly more than that. Ambrosia and Ambrosia Too are considered family-oriented places, while the Gardens and Marquesa are more adult. There used to be a minimum age at the Gardens of 16, but I'm not positive it's still in place.

You won't go wrong with any of these four, but I think you'd be happier with the first two.

Thanks Susan! Since its only my wife and I we are thinking of the first two. The Ambrosia/A Too are also animal friendly which is fine but not for this trip. No dog/cat hair in the bed for us...we get enough of that at home!!!

I just joined am looking to go to keys my self have a 36ft rv fifth wheel looking for interesting person to share trip with I have been to keys many times but never took an rv but it is like a house with three slides I love the keys dancing fishing great food having fun,but not looking for someone looking to use someone I just got rid of one of those or anyone know about rv parks down there?

You'll have problems with an RV that big and unless I'm mistaken, Old Town prohibits trailers that big.

That said, I would reserve a camp site well in advance.

As to The Marquesa or The Gardens, I like them both equally.

I'm pretty sure there's no RV park in Key West but there are a few on Stock Island, which is just across the bridge. Boyd's is the one I'm most familiar with, but if you do a google search, you'll fine two more.

Having read your most recent post, it doesn't look like you're looking for an RV park, but for a travel companion. I'm not sure that this is the best website for that search.

Back to my original post...we went and booked the Gardens Hotel's Eyebrow Cottage for three nights. A bit more than we wanted to spend but I hear its really nice. Thanks to all that helped!

I think you'll be REALLY happy with your choice.

Please come back with a trip report...I saw your post on another travel website that I used to be an "expert" with/on. You've done your homework!
