Key West for a single girl in July?
Thinking about going to Key West for a few days of R & R in July. I often travel by myself and have been to both London & Paris solo and had a great time.
I will drive down from Ft. Lauderdale and probably stay for 3 nights in a central B & B. I am not much of a partyer but would like to go out for a drink on my own. Drive out to Ft. Zachary sp, take a sunset sail & sit by the pool with a good book. Do you think it is a good idea to try Key West solo? Thanks a bunch!! |
You ought to be able to have a good time solo. As a holiday weekend, however, you should expect that B&B's may be booked full by now. Also, you should expect that there will be a 3 nite minimum stay required, and high end rates.

I typed 3 days, but actually meant 3 nights--open to staying up to 5 nights though.

I think it is a great idea to see Key West alone rather than skip it because you don't want to go by yourself. Plenty of families in July.
Just mind your Ps and Qs and don't do anything you normally wouldn't do in any other city. The only area I can think of that may even be a little sketchy would be Bahama Village at night. |
Thanks Pappy & GoTravel,
I appreciate your comments. I was all gung ho about getting all my plans together and had not even thought a thing about traveling alone... then it suddenly occured to me that I might need a few pointers to keep myself out of trouble. :) |
Does anyone else have any comments for me about hanging out on my own in Key West? I'm not afraid -- I just want to make good choices.
If traveling there is much like traveling other places--then I think I can handle that. Thanks a bunch!! |
