Key West Casa Marina..
Well, I have read come of the hrorror stories, but would like some comments.

How are the Deluxe Oceanview rooms?
If you have heard horror stories about a place you are considering staying at why would you still consider it?
Kelly - This is an excellent property and having stayed there in one of the Deluxe Oceanview rooms, I can't think of anything bad to say about my stay...

I will add that the hotel is pricey, but the rooms are large and the grounds are beautiful... the main drawback to the property is that it is on the opposite end of the island from the main Mallory Square and foot of Duval Street action. The walk down Duval takes 30 to 40 minutes, but passes hotels, galleries, shops, ice cream, and t-shirt shops.
If you are looking for a get-away romantic setting...this is it...If you are looking for Drunken stupid...this is not it...The property is also steps away from Louie's Backyard, a well know Key West eatery, and the property also has a decent brunch on the patio as well as Spa treatments and Massage on the small pier...

I hope I haven't SCARED you too much!
Why would you want to stay at this worn out old place? And it is worn out, anyone who thinks otherwise thinks a paint job is a renovation. Key West is best experienced with a B&B or a smaller resort, not some big corporate ran monster.
I heard that the only thing they overlook is the ocean.
Hey Curious - do you think there is a hotel that 100% of the population like? I don't think so. I heard bad things about the standard rooms - i should have stated that.

This sounds like our place, it is for our honeymoon and would like romantice, but close enough to nightlife.

Thanks.

It is a very large resort. And many of the rooms are a little worn looking. They offer many amenities on site so it is great for families (which they do get a lot of so it wouldn't be my first choice here for a "honeymoon hotel"). The beaches are small and man-made here but the Casa does have a reasonable size one compared to the rest but areas of it are VERY rocky. They have a new restaurant on site which is getting O.K. reviews but it is very expensive. There is a little spa on site called The White House Salon which does nice facials but it is small and it does get a lot of local business so you might want to book anything a few days in advance. The location is not the best with regards to where most of the tourist attractions are but I think there is a shuttle that can get you around or bikes would also work. If you want to choose something else so you are closer to all of the activities try to find something in Old Town. There are a lot of great B&B's. If you still like the feeling of a hotel, look at the Hyatt on Front Street. The location is hard to beat.
Actually Kel almost all would agree the way to experience Key West is with a B&B in the older section of town. I urge to to relook especially if this is going to be your honeymoon.
ditto that..it`s your honeymoon...don`t stay in new town.....stay in OLD TOWN...look for some B&B threads......you only go 'round once,go for it !!!!!!!!///
Yes, but look for a B&B with thick walls. It is your honeymoon...
LOL!!! This is more true then people understand. Walls are very thin and you should here the stories! Hotel walls are not much better.

Another honeymoon spot worth considering in Key West are the Sunset Key cottages on the little private island about 5 minutes boat ride off the pier. It's part of the Hilton but it is a world in itself. Lovely shuttered cottages, top of the line amenities, VERY private, quiet, romantic, with an excellent restaurant right on the sand. Drawback is that you have to take the launch to Key West, but it's a nice short boat ride and you never have to wait too long for one and can even get one sometimes as you need it. A little pricey but if you're dubious about Casa Marina and really want a special secluded place with a lot of charm and still luxurious, this is great.
Gotta agree with Jace. Sunset Key would be the place.
I wouldn't stay at the Hilton at Key West. Do a B&B. That is what that town is all about. The Hilton is a HUGE sterile (been described like this by many people and locals) hotel.
My vote is for the Key West Hilton too! Loved it when I stayed there. Sunset Key Island is beautiful.
Don't stay at a hotel. Look at The Marquesa. It is probably the top place on the island.
To "Nah" -- I wasn't talking about the Hilton itself but about Sunset Key Cottages, which has a completely different atmosphere than the Hilton and is not in the same location. The cottages also have an actual beach. Even though it's man made, it's got real sand and nice beach service. The cottages themselves are very lovely & all have their own porches. There's a small book & video lending library and in the morning a little golf cart rides around & delivers your little continental breakfast to your door.
Jace, I understand where you were talking about. It is still part of the Hilton. The cottages look like they belong in Boca. I like Hiltons as a whole but the one in Key West sticks out like a big sore thumb. It is a quaint town and to get a feel for it one should really stay in old town or in a B&B.
Just came back...Key West is AWESOME. Stay closer to old town, esp. on your honeymoon! Youve gotta have fun and lots of it. I stayed at the Cuban Suites, fine for a group, but for a honeymoon, id say the pier house is where you want to be. its close to mallory dock, right there, great restaurants and piano player in the lounge. heaven on earth!

Aaahhh, Carolyn. Welcome to the club!
