key west busy in June?

I'm planning a day trip to Key West in June and was wondering if it is really busy. I don't mind a little bit of a crowd, but I'm not as young as I used to be! I see from the prices of hotels in the Keys that June is the slower period. I was in Marathon and Islamarada in June a couple of years ago and it was like a ghosttown. Is key west the same?

Key West is never a ghost town. Actually May and September are two of the slowest months. June starts picking up the summer traffic.

Early June might be busy. Pride Fest is going on and after that is the Cuban American Festival.

Pride Fest might keep the town busy but probably not the Cuban American Festival. The fishing tournament that coincides with it could fill up the town. Pull up Keywest.com and look under the events calendar for the dates.

I went in early June (and it was during Pride Fest), and although it was opressively hot, it was not crowded. June is the off season, so you get good rates, if you can stand the heat.

Don't forget about the Power Boat Races.
