Key West Airline Question...

Hi everyone,

I'd like to know if anyone knows how I can determine if there is an airline that offers direct flights between Newark, NJ & Key West. We'd much prefer to fly non-stop, but I don't know how to go about getting this information. Does anyone know of any links that could help? Thanks in advance for any/all responses.

Most people fly to Tampa,Orlando,or Miami, and then make the connection to USAirways express or Continental express and then on to Key West.Delta Connection-ASA now has nonstop regional jet service from Atlanta 3 times a day!...They fly the CRJ-7000 series aircraft and it's the biggest regional aircraft to serve Key West.Delta Connection also has connecting service through Orlando as well. For a real adventure you could connect with CapeAir...Flycapeair.com via FLL,MIA or Ft Myers and see the keys upclose in one of their 8 seat Cessna aircraft....

It's probably a question of distances and runway lengths but I don't think you'll find a direct flight to Key West from Newark, at least on a major carrier.

If you really to fly non-stop, you could always fly into Miami and drive down.

I also think that Atlanta is the farthest you can go nonstop from Key West. We usually fly to Key West via Tampa or Miami, OR just buy a cheap ticket into Fort Lauderdale and drive from there. I've never flown the Atlanta-Key West regional jet but it'd be a vast improvement over the 19-seat cropdusters flown by USAirways Express on the Tampa-Key West route.

FYI, fares into EYW (Key West) tend to be significantly higher than Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Miami or Orlando.

Check out Continental. However, I believe they stop at least once before EYW. Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, etc. might give you some suggestions.

I live in Ft Laud and recently flew r/t to EYW for around $200 (can't remember which airline.) It was a smaller plane and it was really cool looking out and seeing the everglades and the various keys. I know it wasn't Cape Air, they were slightly higher in price, but might be worth the difference if they fly a little lower.

Post here if you want any info on key west. I was there for a week. Expedia might have some package deals with airlines/hotels that are worth making the extra stops.
