Key West Accomodations
We will be spending a few nights in Key West at the beginning of January. I have not made a hotel reservation yet, as I was hoping to "wing it" and get a last minute reservation (at a somewhat better price than the rack rate) and also most of the properties require 3 nights (we are staying 2).
Now I am having second thoughts, mainly because I am a planner! I would love to try and stay at one of the inns such as the Gardens, Marquesa, Simonton Court. My dilemma is that there is a deal at the Ocean Key, for $250 for a jr. suite and I am thinking that I should take it. Thoughts anyone?? Thanks! |
There is very few times during the year where I would "wing it" in KW and January is not one of them. Make a reservation.

I'm having a hard time imagining prime properties in Key West having "last minute specials" in January! In fact, you may be out of luck getting in the nice places at all -- especially if over a weekend.
I'd say if this Ocean Key appeals to you and it is no more than the other places are advertising now, I'd go for it. |
You should take the offer if it is still available.

To the extent that you can catch a special in Key West, and by "special" I mean find a place to stay at all, is if you can do a Monday night - Thursday night. Apparenly a lot of people drive down from Florida for long weekends and that's when rooms fill up. If you can manage a mid-week or a time that doesn't involve a Fri or Sat night, you might get lucky.
I'd grab the Ocean Key, too. Pjk |
