Key West Accomodations

Does anyone have a recommedation for a place to stay in Key West? Has anyone stayed at the Hilton's Sunset Key Cottages? I am looking for a family of 4 and would take any or all suggestions.

We just got back from Key West and stayed at the Ramada. I am not usually a big Ramada fan, but this one was wonderful. They have probably the nicest pool in Key West, the only problem could be the room size. You might find one room a little small for 4 people, but I think they might have a suite or two available. I think they are planning on becoming a Marriott, that may be why it was so nice. They have a tiki bar that serves pretty decent lunches. This is not in old town so you would need to drive to get to that part of the city. Another very nice place was the Hyatt, which was right in the middle of all the action. I don't remember seeing the Hilton's Sunset Key Cottages.

The Fairfield Inn just added suites across the street from their hotel on North Roosevelt Blvd. We stayed in the 1 bedroom and it had plenty of room for us, fold out couch, refrigerator and microwave, 2 tvs. They also have larger suites available.
Hilton`s Sunset Key Cottages are 10 minutes from the marina by launch. It is an island.Maybe your looking for Hilton`s Key West Resort and Marina in OLD TOWN.Hilton has a web site www.hilton.com and type in Key West.Old town is where all the action is~mainly Duval St.All the other hotels on Roosevelt are still a drive into old town.Parking is at a premium in Old Town and expensive. It would be be better to stay there and walk around. The La Concha is good.It is mainly cheaper in New Town th stay.Go to some hotel web sites or call some 800 #`s for info.Go to Mallory Square,Sloppy Joe`s, and Hog`s Breath Saloon and have a good time.

My family of 5 (3 teens) stayed at the Sheraton Key West over Christmas. Very nice suite, for about $275/nite. Right across the street from the only beach on the island. Hourly shuttle to and from Old Town (about a 5 minute ride, but far to walk). Nice pool, but get there early for a chair in the sun.

Sunset Key cottages are beautiful but extremely expensive and until I actually took the boat over for dinner one night, dreamed about staying there. I'm glad we didn't because to me it is just too small unless you are going for a honeymoon weekend, any longer than that and I would get cabin fever.
Regarding parking in Key West, you can park a couple of blocks off of Duval and walk. There are meters but the prices they charge are not bad. I find the closer you get to Duval, the more $$$ you will pay for a hotel. Personally, we found that staying on North Roosevelt was quieter, easy drive and parking was not that big a deal.
