Key Largo good eats!

Any recommendations for good food in the Key Largo area?
Thanks in advance!

Great short-order seafood is at Mrs. Mac's Kitchen, MM99.6 on the right. No atmosphere, but it's a great locals' place...

We like Fish House and Ballyhoos in Key Largo.

Tugboats for conch chowder and Mandalay Marina are good, too.

Depends- Fish House or Hobo's for dinner and Mrs Mac's for breakfast or lunch are great values (excellent food at a good price) but as mentioned are roadside. If you prefer to dine waterfront, Snook's Bayside or Snapper's are great for lunch, and the Sundowner is excellent for dinner.

Thanks everyone....how about a nice celebration dinner restaurant?

I would suggest Sundowners- figure out when the sunset is and then call early for reservations for a table near the water for a half hour or so before sunset.

As I mentioned earlier ....went two weeks ago...went to Sundowners for drinks and sunset.....Service was HORRIBLE!!! the people at the table next to us actually left before ever getting served. Sunset is pretty.... but unless you are exactly at the point ....people can interfere with the view. Save money and aggravation...go for the view if you wish but not for dinner or drinks

Hmmmm..I live in Key Largo and have dinner at Sundowners about 5-8 times a year, and have never had poor service (I've had "casual" service from time to time, meaning a laid back, no hurry type approach which can be annoying until you realize it is a characteristic of the Keys lifestyle). While I don't doubt Mcglinda had poor service, i'd suggest it was more the exception than the rule at that restaurant. We can all have a bad experience- for example, the first time I went to the Fish House for dinner, the Mahi dish I ordered was cold, bland, and overpriced. My father's steak was poorly cooked, and my mother's shrimp did not taste fresh. Yet I hear nothing but good things on this board about the Fish House. I am willing to chalk it up to a chef having a bad day and will give that place another try, as I suggest mcglinda does for Sundowners.
