Key Largo
My family is planning to go to Key Largo in April. Any thoughts on what to do and see while there?

Pennekamp State Park for snorkeling is the primary local attraction. I would drive to Key West. The scenery is magnificent. Several pedestrian bridges and many fine restaurants between. Key West is an interesting destination. Many who vacation in the keys take a day flight to the Dry Tortugas. This forum has many Keys threads that you should visit.

Is there any particular reason you've settled on Key Largo? If not, Islamorada is only a couple of miles away and in my opinion, it'd be a better travel destination. The same diving and water sports, but better hotels and restaurants. My favorite spot in the keys is Key West. Fabulous restaurants (LOTS of them), a wide variety of places to stay, and wonderful, quirky tourist activities.

Lots more to see and do in Key West. |
If you do stay or stop in Key Largo, and are interested in this sort of thing, next to the Holiday Inn is the original African Queen . . from the movie with Bogart and Hepburn. When we saw it in 2005, it was in use as a party boat. |
