Key Biscayne in late June?
 

Would I be nuts to whisk my wife away for a four night getaway to this location? We're 2, 40 something active people that like to walk, shop, dine, drink, relax on the beach and people watch. Was considering S. Beach for the 1st time but 2 nights at The Ritz here looks pretty too. Any thoughts please?

I love Key Biscayne and I love South Beach.

The Ritz-Carlton on Key Biscayne is also nice as is the Sonesta Beach Resort.

South Beach has more shopping, dining, and attractions.

Key Biscayne is more of a veg out vacation.

Are there some shops and reastaurants on Key Biscayne or does one have to leave for that? If so are any within walking distance from The Ritz? Looking for somewhere to take my wife for our 18th. We love beaches and walking. Generally we jet to the Caribbean but would like to experince some S. Florida fun for a change.

South Florida will be very hot and very humid with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms daily in June. Wear lots of sunblock.

If you want R&R and to be able to walk to lots of shopping, dining, and attractions, South Beach would be my pick.

You'll need a car for Key Biscayne.

On South Beach, The Loews has that resort-y feel to it.

I think it would be a marvelous 18th anniversary location!

Totally agree with everything GoTravel says. Key Biscayne is not really a walking paradise, and outside of the resorts, its a series of strip malls (nice ones, though). You can walk to dinner, but it's not a particularly nice walk. The Ritz is great, though, and if it's only two nights, you can probably stay onsite the whole time (I think you can use the beach club, with alternative dining options, that is next door).

However, from your description of your likes, it seems that South Beach might be perfect for you. I also think the beach is better in South Beach.
