Key Biscayne??

Can anyone tell me about Key Biscayne? I can only find 2 hotels there - Ritz Carlton and Sonesta. Any others there? Thanks for the info.

Check out Coconut Grove and Coral Gables.

Three that pop to mind are the Wyndham, the Doubletree, and Grove Isle Resort.

There is also the Silver Sands on Key Biscayne. Less expensive than the Ritz Carlton or Sonesta but on the same lovely stretch of beach. Key Biscayne is a barrier island in the Miami area. It's very laidback - esp. compared to Miami Beach. The Sonesta has a kid's program that my friends have praised.

Mrs Molly, try The Sheraton Bal Harbour.

Just for the record, the Sheraton Bal Harbor is at least an hour away from Key Biscayne, so I have no idea why it was suggested.

Hey, Patrick! Happy New Year! :)
I suggested Sheraton Bal Harbour for the following reason. About 3 years ago we had reservations @ The Sonesta in Key Biscayne. When we arrived we were very disappointed in the property. It was late @ night so we stayed but checked out early the following morning & went to The Sheraton Bal Harbour. I do not recall it being an hour away. Seemed pretty close actually! But maybe I was just so anxious to get away from Sonesta that I did not focus on Sheraton being an hour away!!!

The Sonesta is very nice and the Ritz is even nicer. These are the two premier hotels on Key Biscayne. Although you are only 15 minutes from South beach/Miami Beach it is like night and day. if you want glitz stay on the beach. if you want more relaxation choose one of the two above hotels/

I believe the Sonesta is closing this fall. I was looking for an hotel and somewhere it said it was closing. I don't want to start a rumour, but I would check it out.

Isn't Silver Sands gone? We stayed there many times but heard one of the hurricanes did it in.

It closed after Andrew but re-opened in 95. It's website is up so I don't think it closed after last year's storms.

Considering this post is 2 1/2 years old, yes the Silver Sands is gone and the Sonesta will be demoished in the fall to build a new Sonesta.
