kennedy space center with teens???

Visting Florida first part of June with 3 teens. What are your thoughts on KSC? Is there alot of reading where my kids are going to get bored? Don't want to spend all the money if they aren't going to enjoy it. Any opinions would be appreciated.

If they have any interest in space, then they will like it. There are a lot of interesting things to look at (huge rockets, etc.) and the tram tour that takes you to "mission control" is good. I think they would enjoy it!

i went there both as a teen and as an adult...i liked it both times for different reasons. As a teen i liked seeing the "real" objects they had and The Challenger on the launch pad that was up at that time --as an adult, i appreciated the history of space. go for it!

Our teens loved it, but we were only there less than 1/2 day. Check into the launch schedule; limited tickets are available for veiwing, altho its from a distance.

I should also add that while they enjoyed it, they thought Space Center Houston was MUCH better, more detailed, intense and less 'touristy.'

This really depends on the kids. If they enjoy science or flight or something like "Apollo 13" -- by all means.

I would have thought it would be perfect for teenagers, provided they have at least a small interest in space.

I doubt they would get bored because there's not a lot of hanging around in any one place and there's lots to look at.

I'm not overly fascinated by space but I found a half day there very worthwhile.

I always tried to pique my children's interest in where we were going by having them watch movies that featured where we were going or giving them magazines or books.

If you can get them to do it, watch the Right Stuff or Apollo 13 before you go. It will enhance their enjoyment of the center and if they watch those excellent movies and think them "boring" then maybe you'd be better off just going to Ron Jon's and hanging out on Cocoa Beach. LMF

just fyi, esp. to travelisfun, mission control is in JSC/ HOUSTON not KSC/ FLORIDA! I live in Houston and have been to JSC/ mission control. KSC is launch control, after which Houston takes over for mission control.

Yeah...I realized that after I posted. My brain wasn't working on Friday, I guess! Sorry about the misinformation!

I am thinking that if 3 American teenagers would get bored by Kennedy Space Center, then we may just want to shut down our space program and let the Chinese take over exploring our universe. ;)

I don't know--do the Chinese mind reading a lot?

While you're that close to Cocoa Beach take the kids to RonJons Surf Shop. One of a kind!
