Kennedy Space Center - how to get there
Hi all,
We will be staying in Orlando with friends, near MCO. What is the best transport to KSC please? Do we need a car rental? Anybody know how much fare on a taxi would cost? Is there any public transport available (eg. bus)? If don't have a car rental, will it be difficult to find a taxi/bus for the ride home? Thanks! |
A car rental is the best answer. KSC is 50 miles from Orlando. Cab fare would be a minimum of 4 times what a car rental would cost. And, you would have trouble finding a cab for your return.
You might do a web search for shuttle service to KSC from Orlando. If there are visitors willing to pay, there are companies who will provide. |
Hello Eliz1031 and welcome to Orlando!
Your best bet would be a rental car, however, if you want to avoid airport surcharges, consider Enterprise <http://www.enterprise.com>. Have your friends drop you off at their facility and be sure to mention that you did not take an airport shuttle. There are also many other car rental places located near the airport and many have an off site location. Your friends will know where they are. A good, reliable, local transportation company with shuttles is Mears Transportation <http://www.mearstransportation.com/index.htm>. I am quite sure they have shuttles to & from KSC. A taxi would be prohibitively expensive. |
Get a rental car. They are relatively cheap in Orlando. It is a very easy drive, about 1 hour from the airport.
That said, you might want to see if a tour company operates on that route if you'd prefer not to drive. |
A quick google search found two day trip shuttles to KSC from Orlando. At $90+ you are paying $50 per person for the shuttle transport. You can rent a car for the day for $50. By taking the shuttle, it is an 11 hour day, driving you would be 6 to 8 at most. http://www.orlando-tours.com/tours/t...cfm?tour_id=25

Thank you all for your very helpful replies. Looks like car rental is the best way to go.
