Kennebunkport Restaurant Recommendations

Hi

We are heading to New England this week and are ending our whirlwind trip in Kennebunkport. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good seafood restaurants for us to try. We have 2 boys ( 8 & 11) who tend to order adult meals and LOVE seafood. I would like to stay in the $ 20-$ 25 range for meals, if cheaper that would be great. We are willing to travel a little for a good meal - 30 miles maybe would be the max.

I appreciate the help

allisons, hurricanes are great, and perfect for a family.
big fish is good (if crowded) for a little something funkier.
the clam shack right on the river is the traditional fried seafood place. love, love, love kennebunkport. let me know if you are looking for any other tips.

Thanks for the suggestions! So excited to check out Kennebunkport, it's our first time in Maine - or New England for that matter.

Is there a whale watching excursion that you would recommend? That is a must for us while we are visiting.

Alisson's is a family favorite. For lobster, head down route 9 to Goose rocks Beach and continue until you get to Cape Porpoise. The Wayfarer restaurant is a classic coastal joint for breakfast, or head to the Pier for lobster. Take a stroll along the shore roads of Cape Porpoise for some good Maine photo ops.

We are New Englanders and have eaten fried clams and scallops for years. Recently we ate at Mike's Clam Shack on Rt 1 in Wells and thought they were the best ever. In June they were running a mid-day lobster dinner special of $12.95, came with a heap of french fries, rolls, cole slaw. If they are still running that special, it's a good deal. Mike's is a very popular family style place.

never did the whale watching! maybe next time. but there is a two hour sunset cruise on a sailboat that is enjoyable. they have blankets (and a bathroom) on board, and you can bring a bottle of wine if you like. plenty of kids were on board last time. you can just ask around once you arrive.
