Kenai Peninsula

Traveling by car from Anchorage to Kenai Peninsula and back to Anchorage for three days. We have hotel reservations but are wondering what we should not miss. Any suggestions?

The drive is spectacular but we only made a two day trip with an overnight in Seward. Don't forget your binoculars. The next time we go I might hope to go at high tide for a better chance to see whales. We stopped at the Alyeska resort for the tram ride to the top where we stood in snow in August. I think we might also take a picnic lunch next time and spend more time just taking in the view.

If going to Homer- a big fishing area. On the way in Soldotna, there is a Harley shop if you need any t shirts. Seward has plenty of opportunities- consider a boat trip of at least 6 hours, varied wildlife and bird sighting opportunities, Exit Glacier, Seavey's sled dog demos.

Also request all the visitor guides. There is one for the peninsula as well as each area.
