Kelly's Island and Put-In-Bay

I would like to know more about the islands in Lake Erie and family activities there... Thanks.

Of the Islands, Put-In-Bay would offer the most. It is a lively harbor town with history of General Perry. Try the Chamber's web site at www.put-in-bay.com. Kelly's, as I remember, is more laid back but does offer bike,go-cart and moped rental. The Glacial grooves are extremly interesting. We used to swim in the stone quarry and the water was like the Carribean but I understand they don't let you do that anymore. There is a winery that we would bike to for testing.
At Put-In-Bay, you can go to the top of Perry's Monument commemorating the War of 1812 and the peace between the US and Canada. They have demonstations of musket firing etc. Rent a bike or a golf cart to tour the Island. A great place to eat is the Boardwalk, where you can watch the boats. On Middle Bass Island, just north of Put-In-Bay, they have a new state park with hiking trails etc. You can call 1-800-buckeye for an information packet with discount coupons.

Jim,

While on a mini-vacation to Cedar Point last summer, my girlfriend and I took a day trip to Put-in-Bay to get away from the amusement park for a day. We loved Put-in-Bay! We took the Rocket (ferry) to the island and ate lunch, went to the top of Perry's monument, and wondered around visiting all the shops and bars. If you have children, there is a historic merry-go-round. I have read somewhere Put-in-Bay described as the Key West of the North and I thought that was a fairly accurate description, in my opinion. Aside from all the activities on the island, it is very clean and pretty. Check out the website for Put-in-Bay for more info. I think you'd enjoy it!

Been there 3 times in past 4 years, Put in Bay THE BEST/LOVED IT. Rent the golf carts The place @ the top of the hill after you get off ferry too expensive, walk down the street a little on your right, great prices. Lots of shops & eats Will go again & again & again!!!
