Keep Lake Michigan To The Left
 

My high school reunion is next year (yikes, where have the years gone?!?). It's up in Chicago area, and my husband and I would like to take a drive all the way around Lake Michigan, keeping the lake to the left.

I have no idea driving distance each day, to keep it at a nice pace.

The one thing we'd really like to include is a drive across the Mighty Mac (unavoidable, of course), and a fish boil in Door County.

Reunion is next July, so I've got plenty of time to plan.

Anyone feel like coming with suggested itineraries? Thank you so much.

It's called the Lighthouse Tour on the Michigan side and around the top. There are many former posts of mine with others rec's too, on this forum.

Try accessing those threads with Michigan Lighthouse tour- or Lake Michigan drive etc.

Don't pass up the Sand Dune jeep rides near Mears, MI. or Sleeping Bear Dunes etc.

Good luck!- I tried three times and never got past Traverse City starting in your "left" direction from Chicago.

And should have said, the reason why was TOO much to do and see. I LOVE Traverse City and North of there is awesome as well.

Don't forget to visit Pictured Rocks and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore while up north and in the UP.

As far as pace, I grew up in southern Michigan, and it took about 5 or 6 hours to get to the UP going straight up the middle of the state on the highway. So I'd allot at least two days to cover the LP.
