Keep checking those car rental rates

Discount hawaii car rentals
I started with 14 nights in Kona for $650 Dollar gives you whatever vehicle they want.
Got that dropped down to $550
And then in two days changed the deal to $490 Avis Subaru Legacy
And then down to $440
It is now back up to $650

Convertables which is the only premium we would consider is still $1000 more - no longer a priority.

Point is, it is good to check consistently. Just out of respect make sure you cancel when you rebook. Or we'll all be paying upfront.

So true, but funny thing. At the last minute convertibles became the cheapest option on three of five Hawaii rentals. Go figure.

Not always so true about convertibles in hawaii in my many many trip experience.

The worst was Maui who tried to make me buy additional insurance because my policy could not possibly include damage to a convertible. It was on the verge of agent bullying. I won.

I've found Kauai the friendliest, and one last trip for 9 nights they offered me an upgrade for $90 all in for 9 nights. This I found well worth the tariff.

On Kona, with a convertible reserved the agent once tried to talk me into needing an SUV to fully enjoy the island. I thanked her no. When I got to the lot to pick my car there were only two left, and I teased the other rentor that she chose my favorite color. She was willing to switch. I laughed and told her safe journey.

Regardless, I am pleased that my what does it matter if I'm to renting a premium car better then the one I drive? I think the Subaru deal sounds grande.

Koa dollar had a great price (after months of looking/rebooking, etc) on a "compact or larger, we pick the vehicle" and we were dismayed to be given a 7 passenger SUV. At least gas was cheap, but they were adamant about not changing the car type.

Glad it worked out sylvia. At first the dollar deal - we choose your car sounded simple if it beat all the prices including economy/compact cars. Discount's representative reminded me that I could end up with a minivan.
Oh the horror!
It's a toss of the dice, and so glad I found a better deal. Oh if only rental cars in Hawaii had moon/sun roofs.

I had the exact same experience on my most recent trip. I booked through Costco and every time I checked the rate had dropped. I re-booked it SIX times. Only took a few minutes each time and I saved around $150. It's DEFINITELY worth checking back.

Just found something on Orbitz for $309 that included the collision add on in Kauai for late January early February, 5 nights.

Agency was Dollar, a compact or UP and that's all they explained, except it held 5 passengers.

Oh, I will try Carrentals.com as usually it's 'pay at the counter', free cancellation.

When I rent a car, I check constantly for better rates. In March, I booked an SUV for a 9-day trip to the for pick up the end of May at the rate of $530. Naturally, I wasn't thrilled about the high rate but booked anyway hoping to find better rates as the trip date approached.

I also signed up with Auto Slash. They monitor your current booking for better rates and will notify you via email when they find better deals. And they do! Even though you can book the lower rates through Auto Slash, I go directly to the various rental sites and use my auto insurance's discount coupons. In the end for this trip, I booked the same vehicle with a different rental company for $199 total, savings of $331. Now, that's a deal.

Iris, your cc almost certainly covers collision, so "add on" is not necessary. Don't forget to check disounthawaiicar rentals; they've beaten Costco prices a couple of times. They are also pay at the counter, as is Costco.
