Kea Lani vs. Ritz Carlton
 

I have seen the posting reflecting thoughts on the Four Seasons and Kea Lani. What about Kea Lani vs. the Ritz?

Since you have seen the posting and done a search for previous ones, I won't get into too much detail. We stayed at both the Ritz and the Kea Lani...4nights at each. Both are beautiful properties and both areas are worth seeing/visiting. I preferred the Kea Lani as the Kapalua area up at the Ritz is far too windy(plastic shields at the pool to protect you/palm leaves falling on your head, etc.) Weather up here will also be wetter, cooler. Now it also depends on when you go, as the beach up at Kapalua in the Kapalua Bay Hotel is gorgeous and calm in the summer but not in the winter. Beach at Ritz was not swimmable when we were there...flag was up and apparently this happens a lot. Greater dining choices at the Kea Lani walking or shuttle distance, also. So much for being brief!

Again, I am very surprised at the comments on the Four Seasons and know of people that absolutely couldn't say enough good things about it. I would still look into the FS and actually call their 800 number direct and speak to them about these comments...it's beyond me that this would even be allowed. This is the place you would get the best service.

I wouldn't recommend the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. My husband and I stayed there in May 2000 and thought it was very over rated. The spa facilitites were meager and unprofessional. The TV was so oddly placed low to the floor in front of the bed that you couldn't watch it unless you were at the foot of the bed. Most rooms can't see the ocean unless you go out on your balcony and tip toe for a peek "ocean view". The buffet food wasn't good. The pool was very crowded and boring. You can't swim at the beach. I thought the Ritz Kapalua was a bust.

Stayed at the Kea Lana and loved it. All the rooms are suites. The grounds are beautiful. The beach is nice and it is the drier part of the island. Great buffet breakfasts and nice swimming pool.
