KC Hotels-- HELP please

Heading to the Chiefs-Broncos game Sunday and little did we know NASCAR is in town, demolishing hotel availability. We have a room, but it's not at all what we want. Anyone know a good trick to get into a hotel on the Plaza?

Depending on when you're arriving, check for cancellations (after 1-3 PM) the day before.
Also check some of the smaller chains like the Hampton Inn on the Plaza and Residence Inn on the Plaza.

For this weekend you are lucky to have found anything at all.

I know. The place we booked was full one hour later.

And here I thought one of the criteria for hosting large-scale sporting events was having a hotel industry big enough to support it.

All I can say is, "good luck". Although the Plaza is a great place to visit, it's not that convenient to Arrowhead. I'd look for hotels along 1-70 east of Kansas City. Maybe start with Blue Springs, and work your way east.

It isn't just those two sporting events. It is also the Wizards game, the American Royal BBQ contest, Renaissance Festival, Hidden Glen Art Festival, Weston Irish Festival, Westport Antique Fair and dozens of smaller events.

Be glad KU isn't playing this weekend and the Royals didn?t make the play offs!

Persistence pays off. I was able to jump on a cancellation at a great hotel 2 miles from the Plaza/Westport.

Thanks for everyone's help. I'll be sure to watch out for all those Wizards fans.... not to mention the 100,000+ in for NASCAR.
