Kayak Tour in Seattle?

Hi,

I'm looking for a kayak tour in Seattle? I'd like to see the house boats (ala Sleepless in Seattle) and nature. I called Agua Verde Paddle Club, but they don't run tours for the week I'll be in Seattle (early August). Anywhere else I should check?

Also, possible to see the house boats from land? Where do I go?

Thanks!

The houseboats are on Lake Union. http://www.seattlehouseboatrentals.com/map.htm
Sorry you can't rent/lease for less than 6 months.
If you can't find a place to rent a kayak in the Yellow Pages just buy one and take it home with you.

You don't need a tour. Just rent kayaks at Northwest Outdoor Center on Lake Union.

Thanks, tomfuller. No, I'm not trying to rent a houseboat. I just want to see them. So, just show up to Lake Union and walk around, or it's not accessible to non-residents?

Thanks

Thanks, enzian. Is it easy to navigate on my own on a single kayak? Any both traffics on the lake? I'm a visitor and don't know the area at all.

Watch out for seaplanes....they are watching out for you.

To see the houseboats, you would want to cruise along the shoreline, close to the docks. You should not encounter boat traffic there.

There are actually several houseboat communities on the lake----Westlake, Eastlake, Fremont, and Portage Bay. I don't remember for sure which one was in the movie, but thinking about the land shots and access, I am thinking iy must have been Westlake. That one is closest to NWOC, so you wouldn't have to far or do any navigating. The staff at NWOC can point you in the right direction.

Thanks, all, for your helpful info.

Q: Is it possible to take public transport to Union Lake and to the Ballard Lock from Seattle downtown, where I'll be staying? I don't have a car. Thanks!

Take the bus up to the U of Washington Arboretum.
