Kaui: Capt. Sundown or Capt. Zodiac?
Hi! We are trying to picka Na Pali coast tour for late October. Any feedback on which tour would be better? We really want to see the coast and beautiful scenery. Thanks!

We went with Capt. Zodiac in July and had a great time. It's not for everyone though. It can get pretty rough, so if your not into "adventure" you might wanna go on a bigger boat.
Also leaving from Port Allen, it takes some time to get to the "scenery", but once there, its awesome. The lunch was yummy, and the crew is really good. |

Where your staying could be a factor.

We went with Capt Sundown and had a really great time. Loved leaving from the north shore and paddling out in an outrigger to the boat. Crew was great and we did lots of sailing instead of power catting around like lots of cats do.

Is there anyone who sails out of Hanalei or any north shore locations during the summer months. I have heard that leaving from Port Allen misses some of the best views due to time constraints.

Dawn- Cap't Sundown leaves from the north. That's one of the reason's we are considering his tour.

Aloha punky,
I booked w/ Capt. Sundown in April for a July Na Pali tour. They cancelled - overbooked... engine probs... nothing to do with weather... they had over a week to work us in and just couldn't get us out. It was very disappointing. I would go with NaPali Catamaran out of Hanalei instead. |
Cap't Andy's is my choice (I know that wasn't mentioned). Been on the other two and still go back to Cap't Andy. The Zodiac book is fun but very rough coming back. I had to sit on the "floor" of the zodiac for fear of being tossed overboard as youa re heading into the waves.

We went with Cap't. Sundown. He is a really good old sailor. The water was rough-but he never flinched. If you are on the north shore, it makes sense to go with him. The ship is comfy enough. It is a big cat, and we sailed all the way back. Couldn't snorkel because it was too rough-we were there in July.
