Kauai's Marriott Beach Resort-My Opinion Of

For those of you who have recently asked me about the Kauai Marriott Beach Resort, this is for you.
We stayed 7 nights in the timeshare part of this resort. A villa by their definitions and my definition are not the same. It is actually a converted hotel room, which I would refer to as a suite. The bedroom is large and has a king sized bed, there is a tv in the bedroom and also a dormitory sized refrigerator. The other room has a sofa bed, tv, etc. It also has a dining room table, bar sink and counter, microwave, dishwasher and small refrigerator. This side of the suite also has a full bath.
The decor is beautiful. Our room was called an oceanfront villa. We were actually on the 9th floor overlooking Kalapaki Bay and Nawiliwil Harbor.
If you will go to Marriott's Vacation Club web site and look up the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club, there are lots of descriptions and photos of the rooms and the resort. It looks exactly like the photos! No surprises. There is also a floor plan with the sf.
Of course, they give you the timeshare pitch which is painless. The person who did ours was super and we got a very nice gift - they gave us a choice of Marriott Rewards Points or a gift certificate which was good at a number of locations, not just the Marriott.
The resort is beautiful, the restaurants are very good - Duke's is casual and the food is very good - great salad bar and hula pie - Kukui's has a wonderful Sunday Brunch and also very good Friday and Saturday night buffets. There is a breakfast buffet which is also good.
Service at the resort was superior. Valet parking was prompt and efficient. Conceriege was knowledgable, friendly and very helpful. Daily housekeeping was excellent.
As you have probably guessed by now, we loved this resort. It has the most beautiful pool. You can stand and look over the pool and the bay which is a site to behold. The gardens here are gorgeous.
We would definitely stay in this resort again.

I agree with everything you said. I can't imagine how it could be any better.

Our family stayed in one of the "villas" several years ago and loved the resort except for the fact that their really isn't an oceanfront beach. It's more like a cove. Accomodations are great though.

Not "their." Should've been "there." We need an edit function!

IC,
Thx for the 411. We were thinking of a short trip over in June/July on a Marriott t/s presentation thing (and for another good reason) so it's nice to get detailed info.

Duke's salad bar and Johnny Woo's cookin' are ono!
Hule Pie-Yer KILLIN' ME!

You hit Duke's for Taco Tuesday's?
Kal

ps..Bets...you hittin' the hooch early today, yah? ;-))))

Thanks, iceeu2 for the info. My hubby and I are going to Kaui for a week in August We own 2 Marriott timeshares and we traded one of our units for a 1 BR villa at Kauai). This will be our 1st trip to Hawaii and we're using our Marriott points to stay in 3 other islands and paying for upgrades. I was curious as to how many points and Marriot dollars they offered you to listen to the "sell". When we were in Florida they offered us 10,000 points just to listen (it's helped us get to Hawaii) and they gave us $25 to use at a Marriott for lunch/dinner , etc.
Glad to hear the resort was nice enought that you'd return - I can't wait to get there. Thanks again for your report.

Dolciani - They offered us 15,000 points or $75. Nice gift for a short amount of time. Plus now, they are selling their new resort on the south shore. It is all 2 br with full kitchens. Looks beautiful.
Kal, is your offer for the south shore?

icee, We're looking into both. Prefer Lihue since it's closer to all of our friends...and Taco Tuesdays!!!!
I'm sure our own little place will put up with us again, tho if the "freebie or cheapbie" doesn't pan out.

Kal et al, if you do the timeshare promo at the Marriott, ask for a "villa" higher than the fourth floor. We were on the fourth floor and looked out over the roof of the pool. The flat roof was planted with tropical foliage, but the view from a higher floor would be better.

Agree that the presentation is painless, and the freebies they distribute for participating were very nice; I remember that we got $200 credit to use anywhere in the resort. This was several years ago, though.

Alas Kal, the typo was not due to early imbibing. No hooch has passed my lips today due to the need to take a prescription medication that would compound the effects.
